My folks left Rochester this morning to start their new life in Providence RI. I was a little sad to see my mom leave, since I had been living with her all my life (except the year I was living with mike). For those of you who don’t know, it is very common for an Asian family to live together until the son/daughter ready for marriage. So it was really tough for her to leave Cathy and I in Rochester.
Anyway I’m really hoping my parents will able to benefit something from the move. I know my mom is really worried about all the changes, but compare it to the move we made from Hong Kong to Rochester 15 years ago. This is nothing.
Well long weekend is right around the corner. I will be doing my exciting 16 miles training run on Sunday. And I will make an attempt to watch all 3 extended version of Lord of the Rings on Monday, since Monday is my rest day hehe. So if you are interested in the Lord of the Rings marathon leave me a message here or give me a buzz.Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS video

Dad is home from Providence for a few days to help my mom move. Starting Friday Cathy and I will be sharing the house. So for those of you who ever want to visit (Ahdont, Heidi, Justin, Arthur…etc)or need a short term lease, we have an extra bedroom. By the way you must be a dog person and no cat is allowed.

With the Tri and the Chicago marathon coming up in less than 2 months, I think it is very essential for me to do some inspirational reading. Therefore I went to the bookstore and got myself a new book.

The Extra Mile
Pam Reed is the two-time reigning champion of Badwater, the 135-mile race from California’s Death Valley to Mount Whitney that is considered the world’s toughest running event, and the first person – male or female – to run 300 miles straight without sleep. She is also American women’s record-holder in the 24-hour run (138.94 miles).

Instead of running yesterday I did some biking to the Brownstein’s RV party.
Beth’s dad bought a giant RV and decided to have a little celebration with his new toy.
As you can see below it is like the size of a bus.

I have also met their Bernese Mountain dogs, which I immediately felt in love with. Playing with them is like playing with a 170 lbs stuff animal. I so want one now : )

Saturday
I did some tempo drills in the morning, and then my family and I went to lunch at Korea house, after lunch I went to running store to pick up my wetsuit $$$! When I tried it on I think I look more like a Sea World employee than a triathlete haha. Working at the pub in the evening was boring as usual; I saw all 3 of the Phillips and got a big hug from Dawn, which was about all of my highlights in the entire evening.
Sunday
I woke up had a small brunch, and then I sat around for an hour or so to ensure everything from yesterday had pass through my digestive system.
At12:30 I started my 14 miles training run …2:35:10 later I finished. I ran all 14 miles at an 11 minute mile pace with an average heart rate of 155. Overall I felt a little sluggish; it might be the fact that I was sick for a few days last week.
Due to the cold from last week I did learn one unique skill today; I can now run and blow my nose at the same time if tissue is not an option. I had the luxury to practice that every few miles today. The trick is all about picking the correct wind direction along with a little momentum, and gravity will do the rest of the work haha!

I ran into an old friend of mine when I was grocery shopping the other day. She came up to me and said “Alex you look like you lost a lot of weight.†When I told her I’m sort of on a diet, her first response was “You must be on that low carb Akins diet. I heard a lot of wonderful stories about that diet.â€
Well, in the mean while I was like this woman is fucking clueless.
I don’t understand why today’s people always associate weight lost with low carb diet. Ever since that whole Akins BS started, bread, rice, pasta, potato…etc became society’s biggest enemies. No one believes in exercise anymore. I’m so sick and tired of seeing all these low carb ads, low carb menus and the most annoying among all, Low Carb Beers.
For those of you who don’t know me for very long, I use to weight 200 lbs. It took me nearly 4-5 months to shed 20lbs. What is the secret to lose that weight? Well, there are no secrets, you just have to follow one simple rule “Move more and have a balance dietâ€
If you want to go out and have a few drinks after work, well be prepare to run a few extra miles to burn it off. And please I don’t take “no time†as an excuse, because if you want something bad enough you will make time for it. Just like people always make time to watch their favorite TV shows. It is that simple.
