After some trials and errors, I have finalized my energy cocktail recipe. My goal is to intake about 300 calories per hour during the 70.3
My primary sport drink will be the Heed by Hammer Nutrition plus a scoop of Carbo Pro

After drowning myself in Nyquil for 3 days in a row, I’m finally feeling a little better.
I had the best long run this morning; the weather was nearly perfect, 67 degree with a slight breeze, I mean how much more can you ask for from mother nature. My 13.1 mile run felt like a walk in the park.
And then……. I took a quick peek at my heart rate monitor watch. It was showing my heart rate at 56. Impossible!! 56 is my resting heart rate. I just ran a half marathon; my heart should not be at 56 bpm. I know for sure that my chest transmitter was working properly because I just changed the battery in the transmitter last week. I called a few friends to see if they had the similar issue. They all told me that if I used the watch for 2+ years, it is time to change the battery in the watch itself, BUT (Big Warning) don’t take it to the local watch/jewelry shop. Because chances are they will not seal the watch properly and the watch will not longer be water resistant. I called Polar, if I send it in on Monday it will take them anywhere from 2-4 weeks to replace the battery and send it back to me. I cannot afford to not have the heart rate monitor back by July 15th.
Option 2, why not get an additional watch, that way I can always have a working one while the other one is in the shop for service. So I went to my favorite running store out in Victor and got myself a brand new Polar RS200.
Price tag was $139.00, but after some serious negotiation with the owner, I guilt trip him into giving me a pretty good discount along with some free GU gel along with some other sport drink mix.

This weekend will be the final endurance building phase of my training program, the plan is to run a half marathon tomorrow morning and do a 56 mile bike ride on Sunday.
Starting Monday I will begin to taper down until the race day.
